How To Crochet The Waffle Stitch?

To crochet the waffle stitch, you will need:

-yarn

-crochet hook

-scissors

Step One: Chain a multiple of three stitches plus two. For our example, we chained 29 stitches.

Step Two: In the third chain from the hook, work a double crochet (dc). *Skip the next two chains, and work a dc in the next chain. Repeat from * across the row.

Step Three: Chain two and turn in your work.

Step Four: Work a double crochet (dc) in the first stitch. *Skip the next two stitches, and work a dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * across the row.

Step Five: Chain one and turn your work.

Step Six: Slip stitch (slip st) into the first dc of the previous row. *Chain three, slip stitch into the top of the next dc of the previous row. Repeat from * across the row to form waffle patterns. While in Crochet Double Waffle Stitch, you would yarn over and insert your hook into the space between the posts of the first and second double crochets (see photo below), yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through all six loops on your hook. You will then chain five stitches to create your turning chain.
